Dave Hill, BFRO Investigator, Vancouver Island, Canada. "Beyond the Plaster: eDNA".  The last decade has seen a rapid increase in new technologies that have made Environmental DNA (eDNA) tools available to even novice Bigfoot researchers.  The eDNA stream, from collection, to analysis will be discussed.

Dave is a Forest Landscape Analyst with the Canadian Forest Service at Natural Resources Canada, based at the Pacific Forestry Centre in Victoria, British Columbia. His work focuses on advancing the use of remote sensing and geospatial technologies to improve forest monitoring, landscape assessment, and national‑scale reporting.

With expertise spanning satellite imagery, aerial data, GIS, and forest measurement, he plays a key role in designing and conducting analytical workflows that support Canada’s National Forest Inventory. He also has led and supervised field programs that collect essential ground‑based data used to validate remote sensing products and strengthen national forest information systems.

David holds a B.Sc. in Geography from the University of Victoria and a Diploma in Remote Sensing from the College of Geographic Sciences in Nova Scotia. Throughout his career, he has contributed to research and operational initiatives that enhance Canada’s ability to understand forest change, manage natural resources, and respond to emerging environmental challenges.

Drawing on his extensive experience in remote sensing, forest inventory, and landscape‑level analysis, he supports efforts to apply modern geospatial science to the long‑standing mystery of Sasquatch in the Pacific Northwest. His background in satellite imagery interpretation, aerial survey validation, and ground‑truth data collection provides a rigorous framework for evaluating unusual environmental patterns, potential wildlife sign, and reported sighting locations. By integrating ecological data with advanced spatial analysis, he helps bring scientific discipline to a topic often dominated by anecdote, contributing to a more evidence‑based understanding of unexplained phenomena in forested landscapes.
