What should I know about visiting on holiday weekends?


The town is very crowded during the flea markets. Expect heavy traffic, limited parking, and, crowded restaurants.

Can I bring my dog?


Yes, but you must follow local leash laws. Be aware that many trails in the surrounding National Forest and National Park have specific regulations or bans on dogs, and wildlife (like elk and bears) are common.

Is the water safe to drink?


While the municipal water supply generally meets federal and state standards, some areas may have risks, and residents are advised to be aware of aging infrastructure.

Fill up before reaching the area, as options are limited.

Respect the Town: Pack out your trash, respect private property (many residential properties are rentals), and do not feed the elk. This is their home.
